Critical Mass

Bulgarian Dance Platform is realized with the financial support of Ministry of Culture.

Three performers hang in mid-air, while holding a table and attempting to have dinner at it. They find themselves negotiating the critical nature of both the table – their shared fulcrum and burden, and of their own weight, or weigthlessness.

Among a postmodern crisis of individualism, where an obsession to follow one’s own needs often suspends us in the weightlessness of indecision, the performance (critically) examines the fallacy of self-sufficiency, and wonders whether in order to have our own individual freedom, we might need to hold the table for someone else to have theirs.

Silvia is especially interested in everyday life and mixes forms and genres in attempts to express this. She’s got a BA degree in architecture from Cambridge University and an MA in contemporary dance from London Contemporary Dance School. She lives between London and Sofia, Bulgaria, where she gets involved in creative and educational projects around dance, performance, screendance and documentary. She is a co-founder of Room Temperature Association, which has the ambition to help make contemporary art more accessible and better understood in Bulgaria.

The project is realised with the financial support of the National Culture Fund, Debuts Programme, and courtesy of Hod Movement Lab, Profixt Training Centre, and Mr. Bricolage Bulgaria.
