BROKEN DANCEFLOORS
artistic intervention in the city
idea and performance: Simon Rummel (Germany)
The design of floors in public spaces is very often demand-orientated. A lot of space is being covered with standard modules which are quite solid, have simple geometric forms, are weatherproof and look all the same, more or less. But time and site-specific events damage these surfaces more and more and the way they get ruined reflects the individual “little history” of each place. In the performance “BROKEN DANCEFLOORS” Simon Rummel generates with improvisational dance steps prints of public surfaces at a specific point in time. After words the prints of these “dancing footsteps drawings” around the city can be seen in a special exhibition.
